WEST VALLEY CITY — Returning to the scene of the crime — not to mention the place that had previously denied him service — made the arrest of a 15-year-old robber easy for police.

About 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, a juvenile walked into Blockbuster Video, near 4600 South 4000 West, announced he was robbing the store and took a Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and cash from the register, said West Valley police Capt. Tom McLachlan.

Employees immediately recognized him as a person who had been in the store earlier in the day and tried to rent a DVD with a friend's membership card, but was not allowed.

While officers were at the store taking statements and making a report, a vehicle drove by and the teenager was sitting in the passenger seat. Witnesses spotted the boy and the car was stopped by police, McLachlan said. One of the video game systems was found in the vehicle and the other behind the store, he said.

The teen was booked into juvenile detention for investigation of felony robbery and misdemeanor theft.
