If you go to Capitol Reef National Park

Capitol Reef National Park is approximately 225 miles southeast of Salt Lake City. The 58-mile Cathedral Valley loop can be accessed on the west at Fremont River Ford, 11.7 miles east of the visitor center on U-24, or via the Caineville Wash road on the east, 18.6 miles east of the visitor center.

The Cathedral Valley campground, high on the loop, has six sites, each with a picnic table and a grill but all without water. A free backcountry permit is required for all overnight stays.

The park's visitor center, off U-24 in Fruita, is open daily (except Christmas), 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Pets are not permitted on park trails and caution should be exercised to avoid damage to fragile cryptobiotic soil.
