Crash on I-80 claims 3

Killed were:

Curtis McKinney, 28, Tooele.

Susan Anderson, 26, Tooele.

Beverly Frederiksen, 74, Salt Lake City.

Frederiksen's 42-year-old daughter, Diane Osborne, was taken to the University of Utah Hospital, and Osborne's 15-year-old daughter, Jessica Osborne, was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center, said Tammy Palmer of the Utah Department of Public Safety.

Both Diane and Jessica Osborne were listed in stable condition Wednesday night.

Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.

Palmer said the accident near milepost 109 occurred at 3:40 p.m. when an eastbound Geo Prism driven by McKinney crossed the median into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons and hit a Chevrolet Corsica driven by Diane Osborne head-on.

Anderson was a passenger in McKinney's car.

Osborne's vehicle spun and hit a sport-utility vehicle, causing minor damage to that vehicle, Palmer said.

The accident left I-80 closed in the area until 6 p.m. Motorists were diverted to U-201.
