Desert-plant permits halted
In the past, SITLA has sold desert plant collection permits to people who wanted to harvest these plants, such as Joshua trees, yucca and cacti, for landscaping around their homes.
People who have recent permits may still use them, but no new ones will be issued. Reasons for the change include the high administration costs of the program, including expenses related to obtaining archaeological surveys of the affected land.
