Creek debut offers ideal chill album
By day they teach, but outside of the classroom, Joshua Creek's Quint Randle and Jeff Hinton turn what they've learned about life into music.
Randle, a professor at Brigham Young University, and Hinton, a junior high instructor, teamed up to form Joshua Creek five years ago.
Since then, their music has found its way into movie soundtracks and other artists' CDs, but the newly released self-titled album is their first big project.
Joshua Creek bills itself as inspirational country, but don't reserve it for Sunday afternoon. It's country storytelling that spans the spectrum from wry humor ("Life's Like That") to romantic ballads ("Marry You Again"), with inspiration drawn from everyday life.
The sound of Joshua Creek is subtly country (no twang, and people who swear they hate country find themselves singing along) and lots of fun. It's the perfect chill album — slip it into your CD player after a long day and unwind.
