Department of Agriculture lists some ornamentals and their likelihood of attack by Japanese beetles

Utah Department of Agriculture and Food recommends that residents, when planting, avoid ornamentals that are severely attacked by adult Japanese beetles.

Severely attacked by Japanese beetles:

American mountain ash

Apple

Black cherry

Black walnut

Cherry

Flowering crab-apple

Grapes

Gray birch

Hollyhock

Horse chestnut

Norway Maple

Plum

Roses
