GRADE A-

Offense

Two John Beck interceptions stopped two drives, but he still had a 181.37 efficiency rating and BYU had scoring drives of 81, 83, 89, 94, 80 and 84 yards.

GRADE A-

Defense

New Mexico moved the ball better on the Cougars than anyone since Boston College. But it was classic bend-but-don't-break as the defense gave up only 10 points. Two fourth-down stops elevate the grade.

GRADE A

Special teams

A steady performance aside from a penalty on a punt return. Derek McLaughlin only punted once for 38 yards. A 53-yard field goal wasn't realistic and missed. The Lobos had little success on kickoff and punt returns.

GRADE A

Overall

While Saturday's undisputed MWC title wasn't a dominating performance, it was convincing and decisive from beginning to end and the outcome was never in question.
