4 seeking to replace Wyatt in Legislature
Ralph Degn, Jonathan Jenkins, Ed Jenson and Curt Webb met Friday's filing deadline to become candidates for Wyatt's seat. Republican delegates from District 5 are to vote Sept. 7 on which candidate to recommend to Gov. Jon Huntsman. Huntsman's appointee will serve the remainder of Wyatt's term, which runs until January 2009.
Legislative District 5 covers southern Cache County, including part of Logan.
Webb, 57, represented District 5 in 2003 and 2004. He was appointed to fill the seat, which became vacant when Brent Parker resigned. When Webb ran for re-election, however, he lost to Wyatt by 54 votes. Webb lives in Providence and owns Cache Title Co. in Logan.
Jenson, 64, was a school administrator until he retired and became a farmer in College Ward.
Jenkins, 32, is serving his second term on the Cache County Board of Education. He lives in River Heights and is an attorney.
Degn, 66, was mayor of River Heights from 1998 to 2002.
