The Salt Lake Valley Health Department (SLVHD) has received 350 doses of Tdap vaccine and is offering it free of charge to day-care providers, while the supply lasts. The Tdap booster vaccine, known as Adacel, provides protection against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) for individuals 11 to 64 years of age.

They hope the "no charge" vaccine will be an incentive for day-care providers to get vaccinated and help slow the spread of pertussis from unprotected adults to children.

Beginning Tuesday, the Adacel vaccine will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to day-care providers at SLVHD Health Clinics: Ellis R. Shipp Public Health Center, 4535 S. 5600 West, West Valley City, 963-7335; Salt Lake City Public Health Center, 610 S. 200 East, Salt Lake City, 534-4666; Southeast Public Health Center, 9340 S. 700 East, Sandy, 255-7114; and South Main Public Health Center, 3195 S. Main Street, Salt Lake City, 483-5451.
