Utah County students place at art show

SPRINGVILLE — Several Utah County high school students were honored during the 36th Annual Utah All-State High School Art Show at the Springville Museum of Art that runs through March 28.

They include Eric Barrett of Mountain View High School in Orem, who was one of four state winners of the Master's Award. Barrett's work is a photograph titled "Identity vs. Role Confusion."

Utah County students who won the Excellence Award include Morgan Bready of Lone Peak High School, Highland; Raisa Kuddus, Mountain View; Michael Lee and Kaleb Olstraff, both of Provo High; and Jared Sanders of Spanish Fork High School.

Merit awards went to Ashley Lawrence of American Fork High School, Jacob Jewkes of Lone Peak, Annie Biegler of Orem High, Hannah Pullen of Payson High and Rebekah Holladay of Pleasant Grove High.

As for Congressional Awards, Third District awards by Rep. Chris Cannon went to Michael Lee of Provo High, third place, and David Raleigh of Spanish Fork High, honorable mention.

Students entered works of art in a broad range of media from bubblegum wrappers to ceramics. The museum received 780 entries from 75 Utah schools and picked 344 to exhibit. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Wednesday the museum closes at 9 p.m. Sunday hours are from 3-6 p.m. Admission is free.
