Utah Grizzlies: Grizzlies get blanked
Utah had 30 shots on Victoria goalie Billy Thompson, but he stopped them all. The Grizzlies also killed off all five Victoria power plays but obviously gave up the even-handed scores.
Victoria started off taking a 1-0 lead 6:17 into the first period when Wes Goldie beat Utah's Wylie Rogers in goal with Mike Mole having gone up to the AHLafter a Jeff Dwyer giveaway in the defensive zone.
The Salmon Kings extended their lead less than two minutes into the second period when Jacob Dietrich scored off a one-timer. Just over seven minutes later Victoria took a 3-0 lead when Matt Kelly beat Rogers off a rebound. Rogers played well and stopped 28 shots.
Victoria put the game out of reach with less than five minutes left when Dietrich put in a loose puck.
Utah, which also fell 7-3 to the Salmon Kings Wednesday, has one more chance against the West Division leaders tonight. The Grizzlies then return to the E Center Wednesday to face Las Vegas.
