The old Ogden Tabernacle stood for more than a century before being demolished in 1971 as part of the Ogden Temple project. The Tabernacle was on the southeast corner of the block where the temple now stands. According to an article in the Deseret News, the stake presidents council decided that "though much-loved as a community landmark, (it) must be removed because of its very apparent visual conflict with the temple now nearing completion."
