Bomb threat forces Wasatch schools to evacuate
A phone call from a blocked number came into the district's offices about noon, threatening a bomb would go off at 2 p.m. inside one of the district's schools, authorities said.
No bomb was found after dogs searched 10 buildings, including a high school, two middle schools, four elementary schools, the district office building and a bus garage, said Janet Carson, a spokeswoman for Wasatch County Fire.
"All the buildings have been searched and cleared and all the students are accounted for and safe," she said.
After the threat was phoned in, district officials evacuated students and closed the schools in Heber.
"The grade schools were evacuated, and the students were taken by bus to a safe location," Carson said. Other students were picked up by their parents, she said.
Those schools will be open today, Carson said.
Police swept through the schools immediately and cleared them before bringing in bomb technicians and three bomb-sniffing dogs from Utah and Summit counties' sheriff's offices.
Carson said public safety agencies had plans for such an emergency and everything worked according to plan.
