The Mountain View Bruins are looking for a new head girls basketball coach because Laura Romo, a longtime fixture at the Orem school, officially announced her resignation after finishing her second full season as the head coach.

She was an assistant coach for 17 years before that and took over the head position mid-season three years ago.

Her decision to leave the school was prompted by a desire to return to her family in North Carolina.

My oldest child is in the eighth grade, and I just thought it was time to return to my family, she said, though it will be difficult for her to leave the school she's grown attached to over the past 19 years.

It will give my three children a chance to spend time with their grandparents and their cousins, she added.

The school is now hoping to hire a coach with head coaching experience to a full-time contract beginning Aug. 14. There are also teaching positions available.
