Bust yields 2.5 pounds of cocaine and a gun
Undercover drug officers in Salt Lake City made a drug bust Tuesday afternoon.
About 5 p.m., officers arranged a drug sale in Murray. The driver went to the pre-arranged meeting spot but then took off. He was stopped a short time later, said Salt Lake police detective Jeff Bedard. A police dog from Murray checked the vehicle and found drugs under the seat, he said.
Upon closer inspection, investigators found a false compartment contained 2.5 pounds of cocaine and a handgun.
The man was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of drug possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a restricted person. An INS hold was also placed on him.
