It'll be home, away from home, for the Utah baseball team this weekend.

Because of a scheduling conflict with the Salt Lake Bees at Franklin Covey Field, the Utes (13-20, 3-8) have moved their three-game Mountain West Conference series with UNLV (18-20, 7-8) to Lindquist Field in Ogden.

Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

"I'm kind of excited about it," said Utah coach Bill Kinneberg, "I hope it works out great. I've always liked that stadium."

The home of the Ogden Raptors is currently undergoing a $3 million expansion project that will raise capacity to around 7,000 in an intimate surrounding.

Raptors president Dave Baggott, however, notes that fans are the key component. "You can't have the intimacy without the people," he said. "So it all depends on the community coming out to watch the Utes."

"If all goes well, perhaps a new tradition will emerge. Hopefully people will come out and support the Utes. It's a good weekend for baseball up here in northern Utah," said Baggott. "If it gets a good response maybe we could do something similar on an annual basis."

Kinneberg acknowledges it's a possibility. "If this goes well and we have conflicts with Franklin Covey this might be a great option for us," he said.
