SPRINGVILLE — With one match remaining, the Tooele Buffaloes are in position to win the inaugural Region 7 girls golf title.

Tooele's Sadie Palmer is also in solid position to take home the league's first-ever medalist crown.

In the next-to-last Region 7 match on Monday, an 18-hole contest at Hobble Creek, the Buffaloes won their fourth match of the year — this time by 24 shots over the Orem Tigers. Tooele now holds a 63-shot margin over Orem heading into Wednesday's final match at Gladstan. In third place, 91 shots behind Orem, is Provo. The Bulldogs are 48 strokes ahead of Springville and 52 in front of Timpview.

Palmer also added her fourth individual victory of the year by shooting an 85 on Monday, topping Orem's Clarissa Reid (93) by eight shots. Palmer and Reid have finished 1-2 in every match this season. However, Palmer holds an insurmountable lead of 27 strokes over Reid with one match remaining.

Also aiding Tooele's cause in the championship run are Meredith Nigh, Mallory Peterson, Taylor Harris and Jacque Trujillo.
