In a packed room of the BYU Conference Center, BYU Women's Conference participants gathered to hear an open and candid discussion of something that is considered by many to be taboo and shameful: addiction.

"Addiction is an amazing subject for our times," Nannette Neubert Wiggins said as she and Lynn John Anderson spoke to a capacity crowd.

A recovering addict who helped develop the Addiction Recovery Program of the LDS Church, Wiggins also participated in writing "A Guide to Addiction Recovery and Healing," a Church publication available for those who are suffering from an addiction or those who have a loved one that has an addiction. She said addiction is not something that should be secret because "addiction thrives in secrecy."
