Carmen Rasmusen, formerly on "American Idol," will be there Friday from 6-9 p.m. to sign autographs and copies of her book. There will be prize drawings and live entertainment. Dooners is a quick-serve restaurant with three food concepts: the European-style doener kebab made from seasoned rotisserie meats; 24 flavors of gelato ice cream; and a Southwestern grill featuring smothered burritos, sweet pulled pork tacos and nachos (www.Doonersgrille.com).
Rumbi Island Grill introduced Cabo Fish Tacos to its Utah menu last week. The tacos are made with grilled, blackened ono and served with jalapeno ranch dressing, fruit salsa and Asian coleslaw. During a three-month testing period at four Rumbi restaurants, the Cabo Fish Tacos became a popular menu item. In addition, the Utah-based chain was recently honored by the Whole Grains Council for serving whole grains on its daily menu (www.rumbi.com).
Del Taco introduced a new hot sauce last week to its quick-serve restaurant chain. The company says that Del Inferno is almost three times hotter than its competitors. To put it to the test, the company is offering a free case of the new hot sauce to fire stations in the communities that have Del Taco outlets. Mother's Day dining will be offered by the following restaurants:
Sun & Moon Cafe, 5195 Emigration Canyon, offers a brunch buffet on Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost is $15 for adults and $7 for children under age 8. The menu includes quiche, eggs, pancakes, French toast, salads, roast leg of lamb, roasted chicken and desserts (583-8331).
Bambara, 202 S. Main, offers a buffet featuring breads, breakfast items and hearty savory dishes, such as roast baron of beef, grilled salmon and gulf shrimp, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost is $34 per person, $30 for senior citizens, $17 for children age 5-12 and free for children age 4 and under. Bambara will also be open for the regular dinner menu beginning at 5:30 p.m. (363-5454 or www.bambara-slc.com).
