Trial dates still in place for man charged in hairstylist's death
Jesus A. Jimenez is still scheduled to go to trial May 28-29 for allegedly taking part in the shooting death of a Glendale hairstylist, although 3rd District Judge Deno Himonas has scheduled May 16 for a final pretrial conference in the event that a plea bargain might be reached.
Jimenez, 23, is charged with murder and aggravated robbery, both first-degree felonies, in connection with the Aug. 15, 2007, shooting death of Faviola Hernandez during an alleged robbery at The Shop beauty salon.
Hernandez, 24, owned the shop at 1329 W. California Ave. She was cutting a customer's hair when a man entered the salon, announced the robbery and insisted on getting money. Hernandez was shot in the chest and died from a single gunshot wound.
Court documents state that Jimenez told another individual that he was the getaway car driver, while Miguel Mateos-Martinez, 20, actually fired the gun.
Jimenez is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail. Mateos-Martinez is still at large.
