High school baseball top 20

NOTE: The Deseret News' weekly boys soccer rankings are published on Monday each week. Records include games through May 10. This is the last week of Top 20 rankings.

1. Riverton (19-3) Class: 5A

Was: 1. Last week: 2-1. Outlook: The Silverwolves enter the tournament with a target on their backs and the school's second-ever region title. Next up: 5A playoffs vs. Weber.

2. Lone Peak (16-6) Class: 5A

Was: 3. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Knights claimed the Region 4 title all by themselves, quite an accomplishment for a team picked by the coaches to finish no better than fourth. Next up: 5A playoffs vs. Fremont.

3. Viewmont (16-6) Class: 5A

Was: 7. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Vikings laid claim to their fifth consecutive Region 1 title with a sweep of Northridge. But the playoffs are a different story. Next up: 5A playoffs vs. Timpanogos.

4. Taylorsville (15-7) Class: 5A

Was: 9. Last week: 3-0. Outlook: The Warriors flat-out know how to perform in the playoffs which makes them dangerous. Next up: 5A playoffs vs. Copper Hills.

5. Spanish Fork (17-5) Class: 5A

Was: 2. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: The Dons are definite contenders for the 5A title. With their pitching depth, they could go far. Next up: 5A playoffs vs. Layton.

6. Judge (23-1) Class: 3A

Was: 6. Last week: 4-0. Outlook: The label as favorites has not affected the Bulldogs so far in the 3A playoffs. Next up: 3A playoffs vs Cedar, Thursday.

7. Timpanogos (17-5) Class: 5A

Was: 4. Last week: 1-1. Outlook: A late-season swoon dropped the T-Wolves to the No. 4 seed in the region. Can the team regroup? Next up: 5A playoffs at Viewmont.

8. American Fork (14-8) Class: 5A

Was: 10. Last week: 2-0. Outlook: The Cavemen made a move the last two weeks and are once again considered dangerous for the playoffs.Next up: 5A playoffs at Northridge.

9. Bingham (14-8) Class: 5A

Was: 8. Last week 1-2. Outlook: The Miners were humbled a bit against Riverton, but are still a playoff contender. Next up: 5A playoffs vs. Brighton.

10. Northridge (16-6) Class: 5A

Was: 5. Last week: 0-2. Outlook: The Knights need to regroup after getting swept by Viewmont. They need to find some better help on the mound if they want to make a playoff run. Next up: 5A playoffs vs. American Fork.
