High school athletes of the week
A key player on the basketball team and a multi-spot star, it took Accettura some time this spring to get going in soccer. But once the junior did, there was no looking back.
Accettura scored a whopping seven goals in Rowland Hall's four playoff wins and finished the season with 22 goals.
"You couldn't find a better guy to coach," said Rowland Hall coach Bobby Kennedy. "(He is) extremely receptive, puts the team and the program first, always works hard and is very accountable."
KELSEY HODGE, Bear River, softball: This senior's athletic ability is second only to her intensely competitive nature.
"Intensity," said Bear coach Calvin Bingham when asked to describe her most valuable trait. "She's a competitor. She wants to win. Some athletes want to win, but they really don't have the drive or competitive fire to do it. Kelsey wants to win and she'll go after it with everything she has."
"She's only had four errors at third base," said Bingham. "She's a good student and her teammates love her. She's been a delightful young lady to work with."
