Coal plants called a threat to 2 parks
Capitol Reef and Zion national parks are considered two of the 10 national parks most threatened by coal-fired power plants, the National Parks Conservation Association announced Thursday. Proposal for new plants in the region could "ruin the parks' already-suffering scenic views and affect wildlife and the health of visitors," the group said in a statement.
The NPCA wants Congress to stop allowing power plants to be built near national parks. For information about a new NPCA report on air pollution in national parks, visit the Web site, www.npca.org/darkhorizons.
