Wasatch High standout Kim Parker has verbally committed to accept a basketball scholarship offer with BYU in the 2009-10 season.

Parker is a versatile, quick player who can post up or play the shooting guard. She averaged nearly 15 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 3.9 steals and 2 blocked shots per game as she helped the Wasps to a 3A title and an undefeated season.

"When the game is on the line, she's the person you want on your team," said her club coach Mary Waters.

Parker played for Utah Flight Basketball last year with another future Cougar, Skyline point guard Jenteal Jackson.

The Cougars offered Parker a scholarship a couple of weeks ago, and the self-effacing, hard-working player accepted the offer Thursday night.

Her high school coach, Roger Pyper, called her one of the quickest and most versatile players he's ever worked with.

She works just as hard off the court, maintaining a 3.9 GPA.
