Early 20s too young to marry
Regarding the letter about women marrying too young (Readers' Forum, May 24), I could not agree more. As a 30-year-old engaged woman, I am glad that I waited to marry. I have been engaged before in my early 20s and was in love with the idea of getting married. That was a mistake that I know many of my friends made. We were in a single adult church group, and the pressure to date and marry was great. At age 23 I felt like an old maid.
Single, I have been able to discover myself, fend for myself, depend on myself and develop skills I otherwise would have not had. I am excited to start that next chapter in my life by becoming a wife and hopefully a mother. But I am glad to say that I waited and let the peer pressure to be married at a young age fade.
