A 22-year-old Farmington man was arrested by the Utah Highway Patrol for investigation of negligent homicide and booked into Tooele County Jail following a horrific accident on I-80 Friday night near Grantsville.

Witnesses said the westbound SUV driven by Adam Edson near mile post 79 was traveling at "excessive speeds" before rear-ending a westbound pickup truck in which four people were riding. The collision sent the pickup airborne and two people were ejected after it landed and rolled, according to a UHP accident report.

Barbajram Ristemi, 66, West Valley City, was one of the passengers ejected from the pickup and died as a result of injuries he suffered in the accident. Rukinja Ristemi, 61; Mirsad Sabic, 38; and Enes Sabic, 43, were the other occupants of the truck; all three were transported to hospitals with injuries ranging from serious to critical following the incident.

Mirsad and Enes Sabic were the only two occupants of the pickup wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. Edson was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred and was not injured.

Very tragic. Adam is a good man and I know he never intended to harm...

The answer is to drive smart, not just blindly slow down.
