SPRINGVILLE — It's not a good idea to raise a hot frying pan in anger, especially when the pan is cooking fried eggs in oil.

A 10-year-old Springville girl was taken to the hospital on June 4 after she suffered first- and second-degree burns when the contents of a hot frying pan landed on her, according to a 4th District Court affidavit of probable cause. The girl's father, who was arrested for investigation of child abuse and assault, and her mother were involved in a domestic dispute prior to the girl's injury, according to Springville police and the affidavit.

The man allegedly pushed his wife against the wall and grabbed the frying pan, which had been cooking on the stove. As the man allegedly cocked the pan back to threaten his wife, its contents flew back and landed on the girl, the affidavit said. The man was held on $10,000 bail.
