Amber Alert issued for nine-year-old boy who could be in Utah

An Amber Alert has been issued for the nine-year-old son of a California man wanted in connection with an attempted murder and child abduction in Orange County.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department issued a statement saying that on July 2 Lonnie Ramos, 46, shot his estranged wife as she sat in her car at a child custody exchange in Lake Forest. Following the incident, Ramos was seen at John Wayne Airport with his nine-year-old son, Ryan Ramos, trying to buy plane tickets.

An Orange County Sheriff spokesman said Amber Alerts have been issued throughout the west and Ramos may have Utah connections. Authorities also said Ramos has family in Texas and Washington, D.C.

Ramos may be driving a 2005 Fleetwood RV (CA license plate: 5EGW556), a 2004 white Chevrolet Suburban (CA license: 5LTC712) or a red Porsche convertible with a black top (CA license plate: 4BWU827.)

Ramos is 6'3", 180 pounds and has brown hair. Ryan Ramos is 4'9", 85 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Ramos is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on this suspect is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department, 714-647-7419, or any Utah law enforcement agency.
