Real Salt Lake is expected to announce at a press conference this morning that it will host the 2009 MLS All-Star game at its new stadium in Sandy.

RSL will hold the press conference at 10:30 a.m. inside its 20,000-seat stadium, which is under construction but expected to be usable later this year. Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. will be on hand, as well as owner Dave Checketts, MLS president Mark Abbott and local politicians.

When asked about the specific nature of the press conference, an RSL official declined comment, but it's believed the fourth-year MLS franchise will announce that it has won the right to host next year's MLS All-Star game.

In recent years, MLS has awarded the annual exhibition game to franchises that have newly completed stadiums.
