Homosexuality won't flourish

Roger Carrier's letter (Readers' Forum, July 17) made me laugh as he predicted the extinction of those who oppose gay marriage. Before he starts predicting history, he might consider studying it. Homosexuality is not something new. Both secular and sacred history show that while it has arisen in many, if not all, civilizations, it has never flourished. It is naive and erroneous to believe that our modern civilization should be different. The institution of marriage between a man and a woman has withstood the test of time. History has already been vindicated.
