3 boys are injured in ATV accident near Strawberry Reservoir
None of the boys, ages 17, 10 and 9 years old, were wearing helmets when the ATV left the dirt and rolled, said Wasatch County sheriff's deputy Dawn Richardson. All three, considered to be "inexperienced," were riding on one machine, she said.
The three suffered head wounds and various other injuries, and one was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in serious condition, Richardson said. The other two were taken to area hospitals, one in an ambulance and the other by private vehicle.
The boys were part of a group of multiple families camping near Strawberry for the weekend. Adults were unaware that the boys had left the camp.
State law requires any operator and passenger under the age of 18 to wear a helmet while aboard any off-road vehicle.
