Alternate power old concept

The use of alternate or renewable energy sources is not a new concept. We used almost 100 percent biofuels before the internal combustion engine — even called it "horsepower." We used wind power to get across the oceans with regular delays when the winds gave out. Now we are moving back to the "good ol' days."

We need to use thousands of square miles to accommodate wind or solar equipment and the transmission lines, the same privilege we don't want to extend to oil rigs, which require a fraction of this area. We need to build an extra fossil fuel plant next to the renewable energy equipment in order to provide a continuous source of energy in case the sun stops shining or the wind stops blowing— which they will. That means we will be paying double.
