Mudslide forces evacuation of Taylorsville apartment complex
The slide hit one of the units at the Mulberry Park apartment complex, 5287 S. 3675 West, about 3 p.m.
The apartments will remain evacuated overnight as building inspectors check the structure's integrity, police said. No injuries were reported.
Near 5400 South and Bangerter, rain caused a storm drain to back up, flooding a playground and parking lot with about 3 feet of water.
The rain also flooded some streets and basements in Taylorsville and West Jordan, police said. In South Salt Lake, the storm triggered a roof collapse.
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of northern Utah until 9 p.m.
