The Utah State Bar has tapped a Salt Lake attorney as its new head.

Nathan D. Alder, of the firm Christensen & Jensen, was elected president Tuesday of the organization that licenses, disciplines and provides continuing education for the state's roughly 10,000 attorneys.

Salt Lake attorney Stephen W. Owens, of Epperson, Rencher & Owens, will serve as president-elect.

Logan attorney Herm Olsen and Salt Lake attorneys Lori W. Nelson, Rodney Snow and E. Russell Vetter were elected as Bar commissioners.
