Salt Lake woman is killed in crash on I-15 in Juab

NEPHI — A woman was killed when her car crossed the median and collided with a semitrailer truck on Interstate 15 Sunday afternoon.

Marian Schreiner, 75, of Salt Lake, was traveling north through Juab County when her car crossed the median about 4:50 p.m., said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Plank.

The semi drove over Schreiner's 2005 Toyota Avalon, which caught fire, Plank said.

Schreiner died at the scene. The driver of the semi, which was on its way to California carrying a load of salt, was taken to a hospital but was expected to be released late Sunday, Plank said.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused Schreiner to cross the center line.
