LAYTON, Utah — One of the most costly seasons for road construction projects in northern Utah history is coming to a close.

Utah Department of Transportation spokesman Vic Saunders says that by the end of fall, $1.2 billion in projects in Davis, Weber, Morgan, Box Elder and Cache counties will be completed.

The $685 million Legacy Parkway opened in September, providing commuters traveling through Davis County a 14-mile alternative to Interstate 15.

The I-15 NOW construction project from Ogden to Farr West was finished in August, three months ahead of schedule.

Three major projects in Davis County and one in Weber County remain unfinished.

The $38 million Riverdale Road project will add one lane in each direction between the Interstate 84 interchange and the Weber River viaduct.
