A murder trial over the cold-case slaying of a Magna woman has been delayed.

The trial of Billy Justin Charles, 32, was scheduled to begin Monday in 3rd District Court. Clerk's minutes indicate that during a hearing Sept. 23, one of Charles' attorneys withdrew from the case and the trial was rescheduled to begin on Nov. 3.

Charles is accused of killing 18-year-old Jaime Weiss, who was found dead in a bathtub on Aug. 7, 1996 — the day before the couple was to be married. An autopsy report concluded that Weiss died from blunt force trauma and asphyxiation.
