PROVO — A local celebration of Mental Health Awareness Week begins tonight with a candlelight walk.

Provo Mayor Lewis Billings and representatives from local churches, service organizations and government agencies will join the walk at 6 p.m. in Pioneer Park, 500 W. Center, and end at the Historic County Courthouse, 51 S. University Ave.

The candlelight walk is sponsored by the Utah County affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and will include a short rally during which Billings will read a proclamation declaring Oct. 5-11 Mental Health Awareness Week. The event is free and open to the public.
