Police spokesman Gary Keller said witnesses described the robber as an African American male of average build, between 5-foot-8 and 6 feet, wearing white shorts, a white shirt and a white "wrap" around his face. They told police they saw him jump a fence at an apartment complex adjacent to the credit union at 39 W. 2100 South and drive away in a black Jeep Cherokee.
Keller said the vehicle did not have license plates, but a temporary tag with the expiration date of 7-14-08 was visible in the rear window. The vehicle was last seen heading south.
Keller asked that anyone with information contact South Salt Lake police at 840-4000 but warned that no one should approach the robber, who is considered armed and dangerous.
