Police: Text message contributes to Salt Lake car crash
A woman replying to a text message caused a crash that injured two other people, Salt Lake City police said.
Officers said the woman was driving south on 200 East just after midnight Wednesday.
"She was replying to a text message when she failed to see the light was red," Salt Lake City Police detective Jeff Bedard said.
Police said a driver going through the intersection of 200 East and 800 South with a green light collided with the woman's SUV. The force of the impact sent her SUV spinning into a pedestrian who was waiting to cross the street.
The woman was ticketed for careless driving, Bedard said. The other two were hospitalized with serious injuries.
