Riverdale police look for more victims of man busted on stalking, porn charges
RIVERDALE Police in Weber County are looking at whether more young men were stalked by a man who is accused of sending sexually explicit mail to a teenager.
"We've got two reports from two separate agencies in Weber County that believe this is similar," Riverdale Police detective Tony Perfetto told the Deseret News on Thursday. "A family from Kaysville said they received the same letters."
Thomas Thackeray, 61, is charged with eight counts of second-degree felony dealing in materials harmful to a minor and a third-degree felony count of stalking. He is accused of cutting out pictures of a high school athlete from a local newspaper, pasting the boy's face on the bodies of men in gay porn magazines and sending it to the student with sexually explicit text attached.
Perfetto, who is investigating the case, said it wasn't just limited to athletes.
"Just young males in general," he said.
Thackeray appeared in Ogden's 2nd District Court on Tuesday to face the charges. Court records indicate the judge ordered him to have no contact with the victim in this case or his family. The judge appointed an attorney to represent him and set bail at $75,000.
