Accident closes part of I-15; now reopened

SPANISH FORK — A four-car accident snarled traffic on I-15 in Spanish Fork, closing part of the northbound lanes.

Officers diverted northbound drivers off the freeway at Exit 253, then allowed them to instantly get back on the freeway, avoiding the accident mess under the overpass.

Northbound lanes of I-15 were closed around 3:30 p.m. Officials cleared the area and reopened the northbound lanes about 5:15 p.m., said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Jeff Nigbur.

There were minor injuries from the accident, but nothing that required anyone to be taken to the hospital, Nigbur said.
