SOUTH JORDAN — A man was rushed to the hospital Friday evening after he was stabbed in what police believe was a road-rage incident.

South Jordan Lt. Matt Evans said two men were driving separate vehicles on Redwood Road near 10400 South around 7:30 p.m. Friday when one of the cars cut off the other. The men, ages 31 and 22, got out of their cars and had a "small altercation," Evans said.

In the scuffle, the younger man reportedly stabbed the other man in the stomach, Evans said. The men then separated and sat in their vehicles until police arrived, Evans said.

Evans said the victim was rushed to Jordan Valley Hospital in critical condition. Doctors immediately took him into surgery.

Evans said the man accused of stabbing the victim has been taken into custody, and officers are still trying to piece together what exactly happened. Evans said the man has not been formally charged.
