One cool ride

Each year, Cars.com picks America's top 10 tailgate-friendly vehicles, and the 2008 winner is the Chrysler Town & Country.

That's right, the coolest ride in the lot is a minivan.

"Believe it," said a Cars.com press release. "The Town & Country has one fantastic feature after another."

Does the good news never stop for BYU fans?

First, the Cougars get ranked in the top 10. Then they learn the car they're driving is, too.

Spreading it on

Chad Mustard, a journeyman NFL tight end, has just been signed by Denver — for a fifth time.

But that's just part of his itinerary. The former North Dakota standout has been released nine times by three teams.

"I don't know what the situation is or for how long," he told the Denver Post. "But that's my life."

Actually, he should be fine for at least two more years.

That is the shelf life of mustard, isn't it?

Brotherly love

Vice presidential candidate and noted hockey mom Sarah Palin dropped the first puck at the Flyers-Rangers game Friday night.

There was a mixture of cheers and boos, which isn't surprising considering Philadelphians boo everything.

Or was that just coming from Keith Olbermann in the broadcast booth?

Cleaning up

Pacman Jones is newsworthy again, and not for his on-field prowess.

The Dallas cornerback got in a scuffle with his bodyguard last week.

Reports say they were exchanging friendly smack-talk when things got personal, and soon hotel lobby employees heard a commotion in the men's room.

Rock On thinks the whole incident was overblown.

That sort of thing happens all the time when they run out of paper towels.

Trade bait

Anyone who has been to Laramie, Wyo., for a game knows it can be a hairy weather experience.

Rock On won't go into detail about covering the Utes' trip this year, except to say the return ride involved 16 hours in a car, a dilapidated bar in the middle of nowhere, a half-dozen jack-knifed trucks, a pit bull, a heavily tattooed oil-field worker and $50 worth of junk food.

Otherwise, great trip.

Just wondering: Would the Big Sky be interested in swapping Sacramento State for Wyoming?

Big league

While everyone is busy stewing over whether Utah or BYU will get a shot at the national championship, don't forget Weber State. It has already defeated the No. 2 FCS (I-AA) team in the country and is 3-0 in conference.

If the Wildcats win the Big Sky they're guaranteed a shot at the national title.

What a concept: Win your conference, you get a chance to play for a national championship.

What will they think of next?
