Chimney fire sends Ogden man to hospital
OGDEN An early morning fire sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries Monday.
The fire started at 1271 Hudson St. just before 6 a.m., said Ogden Deputy Fire Chief Chad Tucker.
"One of the family members was trying to stoke up the fireplace," Tucker said.
A man who tried to extinguish the fire was taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation, officials said.
About half of the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The fire caused about $100,000 in damage, Tucker said.
Fire officials said they expect more chimney fires as cold weather settles on the state. Tucker advised people to get their chimneys properly cleaned before using them.
