Riverton man held in road rage assault
SOUTH JORDAN Police arrested a 22-year-old Riverton man for investigation of aggravated assault after he allegedly stabbed another man in a road-rage incident.
Lt. Dan Starks of South Jordan Police Department said the man was taken into custody late Friday after an altercation with a Draper man. The two were driving separate cars on Redwood Road near 10400 South around 7:30 p.m. when one of the men cut off the other.
Starks said both men got out of their vehicles and engaged in a heated pushing match. The younger man pulled out a lock-back pocket knife and stabbed the victim.
Both men then separated and sat in their vehicles until police arrived.
The victim was rushed to Jordan Valley Hospital in critical condition and went directly into surgery. Starks said doctors told police he be in the hospital at least three days from when he came in.
Starks said the case is being screened and police are closely monitoring the victim's condition.
