Some thoughts from Jazz stars Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams after Friday night’s Game 3 and heading into Sunday’s Game 4 of their NBA Western Conference semifinal playoff series against the up 2-1 Los Angeles Lakers:
* Boozer, on the Lakers losing Game 3: “We have to expect them to play better.’’
* Williams, on the 1-of-5 field shooting by Lakers star Kobe Bryant in Friday’s opening half: “He struggled a little bit in the first half. He really deferred a lot. Then second half he came out and got going. So, we have to hope for another half like that (first time) tomorrow.’’
* Boozer, on his breakout 27-point, 20-rebound Game 3: “Sometimes when you struggle, you’ve got to look to other facets of your game, whether it’s rebounding, getting deflections, playing better defense, screening – whatever it is – just to get back into a rhythm. For me, (Friday) night was rebounding, it was about getting deflections, getting steals, and then the offense just came along with the game.’’
* Williams, on the same subject: “That was big for him, his confidence. It was big for us as a team for him to come out and have a game like that, and hopefully, it carries over. We're going to need him playing like that to win.’’
* Boozer, on the key to winning Game 4: “Not to be overconfident or complacent. … We have to come with the same mentality we came with (Friday night). … Come with the same energy as a group, and come with the same execution offensively and defensively.’’
