U. trustees owed apology
A whole column by Lee Benson (May 5) of drivel and ridiculous associations accusing the University of Utah trustees of lawbreaking and not one word about the other major organization here that has also asked members not to bring concealed weapons into their buildings. Can you guess? That's right, the leaders of the LDS Church recently announced that concealed weapons are not welcome on church property. The only exception made by the church leaders was for law enforcement officials.
Are LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley and his associates also a band of lawbreakers? No, both organizations the University of Utah and the LDS Church function in the best interests of this state and both should have the authority to prevent the presence of lethal weapons if they see fit, and both do.
What's good for the goose is good for the gander, Lee. You owe the Board of Trustees an apology.
