Details of the Legacy Parkway settlement agreement
On Sept. 21, the state signed an agreement in principle with plaintiffs in the 2001 suit that halted construction of the Legacy Parkway. The agreement is a "framework" used to craft the proposed final settlement agreement, which will be distributed to lawmakers early next week.
By completing the final settlement agreement Friday, the state is on track to meet in a special session Nov. 9 to either approve or reject the deal.
The finalized agreement will strictly define and give more detail about provisions included in the agreement in principle. Provisions in that agreement include:
No billboards.
A prohibition of trucks.
Speed limit of 55 mph.
Acquisition of 125 additional acres for Legacy Nature Preserve.
$2.5 million for environmental study of light rail and bus rapid transit in south Davis County.
