Speaker Curtis names Legislature chief clerk
Sandy Tenney will replace longtime House Chief Clerk Carole Peterson, who retired last month. Like the secretary of the Senate, the chief clerk oversees all House operations, especially floor action while the 75-member House is in session.
Tenney was a long-time employee of the state Senate before transferring to the House earlier this year.
She started working for the Legislature 20 years ago as the manager of legislative printing. She later went to work for the Senate as manager of services.
During the 45-day general session Tenney also worked on the Senate chamber floor as the reading and amending clerk.
Originally from Hartsville, S.C., Tenney came to Utah to attend Brigham Young University, where she earned a B.A. in English. She and her husband, Dennis, live in Sandy.
